Provincial Administrator Vincent Talattag said the occasion was not only to officially open the project worth P4M but also to turnover it to the municipal government of Flora as well as to the residents of Sta. Maria.

Talattag said that this was made possible through the five percent calamity fund of the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office as he also thanked the support of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

“This is the result of the unity in Flora. Sapay kuma ta aywanan tayo (daytuy nga proyekto) ket ipakita tayo kuma ti panangisakit tayo kadagiti imprastraktura,” said Talattag, who represented Gov. Bulut, who could not make it due to other important matters.

Vice Governor Remy Albano said the facility will be used by all affected during calamities.

He told the barangay officials and local residents present that this event is memorable because this is the day that  the people of Flora receive this infrastructure, which will be used in times of disaster.

Sta. Maria Barangay Chairman, LnB-Flora President and SP Ex-Officio Member Jeofrey Blas thanked the provincial government for funding the multi-purpose center, which is just beside the evacuation house that was earlier built through the 2015 Bottom Up Budget worth P4.3M.

Mayor Rodolfo B. Juan said that on behalf of the LGU-Flora family, thanked the Governor and the respect that is enjoyed among all officials and the people of Apayao.

He said that this project is crucial for residents in the area especially during calamities.

The site was chosen because of its proximity to flood prone areas like Malayugan, Balluyan, Mallig, Allig, Anninipan and Sta. Maria.
