Proposals for funding for the improvement of the Municipal Forest Park in Bagutong had been sent to the office of the provincial governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. and lone district of Apayao representative Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang with the purpose of converting the facility to Eco-Tourism Center.
The center, will be named after the late Elias K. Bulut Sr., who is known as the father of Apayao.
Vice Mayor Jessica De San Jose explained however that the SB had already approved in principle the conversion to eco-tourism park or center pending the presentation of a development plan for the purpose.
To be built there inside the park would be a clubhouse, where VIPs can stay during important occasions.
Another component of this project will be the settlement of a Bahay-Pag-asa for drug rehabilitation program.
IPMR Richard De San Jose observed that there is already a furniture shop in the area and he is concerned about the proper waste disposal since the area will be a tourism destination.
He also raised the issue of land-ownership and wanted the assessor’s office to be included in the planning.
