In line with its aim to be at par with the signs of the times and strengthen its disaster response efforts, the municipality of Flora is currently constructing an Evacuation Center in Brgy. Sta. Maria worth P4.3 million.
With a floor area of 230 square meters, the evacuation center building will be used during calamities.
The site was chosen for the construction of the facility because its proximity to flood-prone areas like Malayugan, Balluyan, Mallig, Allig and Sta. Maria.
Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO) head Jean Agustin said the approved budget of P4.3 million came from the 2015 Bottom Up Budgeting (BuB).
Camia Construction Development Corporation is the project contractor.
MPDO said the evacuation center is the only major project being undertaken as of the moment.
Another project under the BuB is the concreting of Santan St. worth P3.5 million.
